Preparing the lime chicken meal, 5:35 pm on Sunday night. We were surprised by:
1 how clear and easy the instructions were
2 how small the chicken looked
3 how fast the prep time is - 15 minutes easily
4 our situation is pretty skewed in one direction - we are knee Deep in kids - but it seems like the people that are really scrambling on a weeknight are families, and the info on the meals we got saying it is for 2' is correct - it wasn't enough for our family so we made some pasta and salmon on the side. It seems like the time when we were just a couple wo kids was the time when we could make a long slow dinner on our own and didn't need a service like this as much as we do now. The food looks, arrived, ands smells delicious, but for our lot in life the goal is to not make 3 meals at once and in that regard it didn't work.
The pickled vegetables have to be replaced by some sort of cheese component. We are big fans of vegetables but this smelled and look like Korean Kim chi which is not part of the tortillas picture. The Lime and everything else, even the small amount of chicken I mentioned, was not so much of n issue as the vegetables were.
Given my comment about the kids, the question is is it worth it to us as a couple to have something nice in the midst of family dinners? How much to be saved from a big plate of chicken fingers? Assuming the meal is great, and we were not blown away by this one, we would pay $20 or so to not have to worry about the adult content of our family meal, but it has to be great and the chicken wasn't. We suspect the bEef medallions might. We will try the, tomorrow night, a weekday night.
Having noted the small portions it is worth mentioning that only the adults in the. Family ate it, and we ended up with at least on excellent lunch packed up and ready for Monday .
I have lots of pictures but am having difficulty up loading them. I will ct your tech team on monday. You seem to have to make them part of a google picture archive, and am unable to load them directly from my camera or from my iPad photo collection.

ReplyDelete- Want to make sure we get your reactions to the video mentioned at the beginning of this blog: Please watch the video at: https://vimeo.com/219875606 . The password is: time2eat! Just from watching this video (and not from your meal preparation experience), would you say these seem like products for you? Why or why not?

- What does the video make you think you'll get in terms of taste with these products?
- Pictures of your meal experience: You can email these to Lifestylemoderator@gmail.com and/or Gail if it's easier for you... that works too!
- It sounds like you would not choose to purchase the lime chicken meal again for your family... is it something you would recommend to others? Why or why not?
Thank you!
Hi! I watched the video. Short answer is yes - based on the video alone I would say this is an item for us - we went thru a period of time when we purchased packages similar to his made by Whole Foods (365 brand) before getting bored with them - I think we overdosed on them. As I mentioned in my blog, it wouldn't work for our kids, but to be able to have one nice, easy meal for the adults and make just one other, child-oriented meal for the boys would be a victory, as it is we make at least two or more emals a night anyway to suit various family member's taste.
ReplyDeleteThe video is for people who care about what they eat but at the same time are very busy. The emphasis on a "memorable" meal means its for a couple that are into each other, or into dinner, or for whatever reason view dinner as important.
Things that struck me about the video:
Good" the kitched, the wooden cutting board, looked beautiful. This is a meal being prepared by clean people with class.
The cutting of the meat made it look juicy and delicious
The emphasis on < 20 minutes was good bc its true (I would even say 15 based on our experience) and a major reason why someone would buy this
it seemed from the arms and hands that a male was making it, which is against the stereotype and for whatever reason I liked it - it made it seem like an option for modern, younger couples - not old-fashioned.
The fast replay when it was shown shipped together in 2 seconds emphasized the idea that it was a quick prep, which I liked.
Negatives: I would have liked to see the names of the 4 meals - as it is they showed at the end in very small print.
This may be a thing of the future for you, but I could see a wider palate of meals being useful.
The quality of the food we got in our meals was realy great - the beef was first rate, the citrus juicy with very think skin - I'd emphasize that as much as possible in the text, but I have to say that idea DOES get across in the video, the beef looks great when taken out of the package, the lime squeezed onto the side looks great, etc. So it's a definite plus which I recognized from the images but not as much from the narrator, although he does say something about the food quality.
The only reason we would *not* do the chicken-lime is that my wife does not like Mexican. I *loved* it, and would order it again. The one thing looking back on it that I did not like was the chicken did not look very appealing in its packaging, in a way that was not an issue with the beef. I wonder if anyone else has mentioned it, it just gave me images of chicken processing plants and rubbery chicken, although in fact that was not true and the quality was great. Maybe the beef should be in a clear packet (as it looked great) but not the chicked (as it did not) - ?
