Image about this phase in my life

Hello there, for some reason I am having difficulty uploading the image I would like to use, but it is the 'life is frazzling' image at frazzled mama.com. It is just a simple picture of a mother presumably with her hair straight out and up, frazzled and overwhelmed. This is what this phase in my life feels like for me. The good part is that it's because of the size and demands of a family mostly, which is a fun endeavor that we both wanted, the bad side is that it's turned out to be WAY more ... Frazzling ... Than we had anticipated. Part of that is we never expected to have 3 kids, it just sort of happened, and part of it is the personalities involved, but the end result can be literally layers deep in requests, etc. to play with them or do things on their behalf and not even being able to approach doing something for yourself. What I like about the image is it's simple and it gets that overwhelmed feeling across, but I detect, accurately or not, a sense of humor about the situation in the face, something like 'yeah, I know I know, I put myself in this situation and it's not really all bad by a long shot, but geez it is a lot to deal with and sometimes it really gets to me.'

Beef dinner

My wife and I loved the beef medallion dinner, although my preparation of it did us no favors. We would definitely have this dinner again. I overdid the meat, and put too much oil in the rice/quinoa mix, making the end result to heavy, like Chinese take-out heavy. So the drawbacks were self-induced, and I'd love to have a shot at cooking this better to di it justice. For both meals we've been really impressed with the quality of the food - the orange, the beef. It made me feel great about eating it and serving it. The seasoning and sauce was not as spicy as we had expected, we both could have gone for a bit more punch. I will email photos directly as you suggested. In the meantime the two things that really impressed us, that would be worthy of emphasis as selling points, is the qulity of the food and the time to prep (really 15 minutes). Food for Thought

My personal relationship differs greatly depending on whether or not I am alone. If I am alone it is just fuel, I don't enjoy specific tastes or flavors enough to have that matter enough for me. When I am along it is just something to keep me going. That's what the bottom image is about. When the family is together, it's different - the food is more important because it brings us together. That's what the top image is about. I have noticed that I sometimes eat at work as a stress reaction (when I am at work, etc) but that's not a sustained or chronic behavior I wouldn't say. So in terms of how to make a meal special if its me I basically don't. If it's for the family there are a couple ways we do it: 1) put a lot of variety on the plate: 3 cherry tomatoes, a slice of cucumber, and 3 small carrots as opposed to, a big pile of a single thing - this is for the kids 2) we buy what we call 'kid's wine' - sparkling cider and pop the top,...

What's for dinner?

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood .... often the choice of what's for dinner is decided by what I buy the weekend before, and whether I've gotten an idea to try something new and adventurous. Which sounds like I'm making a bigger deal of it than is necessary, but we're pretty focused on getting our kids to eat good meals, including one who is pretty undersized, and a bust of a dinner turns into some disgruntled mumblings and bowls of cereal, not the worst thing in the world but for whatever reason that risk plus the energy and inspiration during a busy week to come up with something new that has a good chance of working for the majority of the family makes it seem like a decision between going for it and taking the road less traveled by vs.    .....chicken nuggets ... spaghetti ,,, whatever your go to might be.
